Internship Program Overview:
Our Interns & Co-ops are our entry-level talent pipeline for GF across the globe. Our goal is to provide students with a meaningful work experience that will equip them with the skills to embark on a career in the fast-paced and growing semiconductor industry after graduation. As an intern at GF, you’ll experience one-on-one mentorship, work assignments that prioritize your growth and potential, professional development opportunities, and the chance to network with executives.
Summary of Role:
Join the New Product Development team for a hands-on engineering internship focused on automated test solutions for complex digital, analog, and mixed-signal integrated circuits used in automotive and industrial applications. You will work alongside Product and Test Engineers on defined assignments spanning test planning, ATE development, silicon bring-up, validation, data analysis, and manufacturing-readiness activities using Advantest and Teradyne platforms.
Essential Responsibilities include:
- Support pre-silicon planning by translating product requirements and datasheets into technical specifications, specification-compliance matrices, design-for-test requirements, and ATE test plans.
- Assist with the design of cost-effective ATE hardware and resource allocation that improve multisite efficiency and pin multiplexing for silicon bring-up, validation, and production release.
- Develop, bring up, validate, and debug automated test programs for digital, analog, and mixed-signal integrated circuits on Advantest and Teradyne ATE platforms.
- Analyze test and characterization data to investigate design margins, wafer-fabrication process variation, parametric performance, yield, and test-time opportunities.
- Support process-window experiments, silicon and package qualification activities, and product specification compliance across automotive, industrial, or commercial requirements.
- Collaborate with Design, DFT, Design Validation, Program Management, Quality and Reliability Engineering, Customer Quality Engineering, Bench Characterization, Applications, Fab, Assembly, and factory Test teams.
- Contribute to ATE test hardware, socket design, board schematics, layout, diagnostic code, and test automation specifications under the guidance of experienced engineers.
- Document gaps, lessons learned, and best practices, and contribute reusable methods to the Standard Test Methods Library (STML) across ATE platforms.
Other Responsibilities:
- Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
Required Qualifications:
- Education – At least a sophomore at time of application and actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field through an accredited degree program during the time of internship.
- Must have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and be in good academic standing.
- Language Fluency - English (Written & Verbal)
- Ability to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior related internship or co-op experience
- Demonstrated prior leadership experience in the workplace, school projects, competitions, etc.
- Strong interest in leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and support effective decision-making.
- Project management skills, i.e., the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong planning & organizational skills
- Coursework or project experience in semiconductor test, design-for-test, integrated-circuit design, electronics, or semiconductor physics.
- Programming experience in one or more languages, including C, C++, Python, or Perl.
- Familiarity with digital, analog, or mixed-signal circuits, test automation, or laboratory measurement equipment.
