Program details :

Position title :

Intern, eCommerce Engineering

Your role at Sephora...

As the Intern, eCommerce Engineering , you will join the eCommerce Engineering team to explore how data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning can improve digital shopping experiences. Working with engineers and business partners, you will analyze commerce data, develop and evaluate model prototypes, and help translate findings into practical improvements across the customer journey, from product discovery to checkout.

This internship offers hands-on project experience with guidance from experienced engineers. You will contribute to a scoped project and present your approach, results, and recommendations to the team.

What you will accomplish :

- Use Python and SQL to explore eCommerce datasets, including product, cart, checkout, order, and subscription data, with appropriate access controls.

- Clean, transform, and validate large datasets using Pandas and NumPy; identify missing values, inconsistencies, and data quality issues.

- Develop and compare machine learning prototypes for use cases such as purchase completion analysis, product recommendations, or subscription behavior.

- Create features, establish baseline models, and evaluate performance using metrics appropriate to the business problem.

- Present the project outcome, evidence, lessons learned, and recommended next steps at the internship culmination.

Qualifications & experience:

- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field.

- Foundational programming or scripting experience in Python, Java, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, Bash, or a comparable language.

- Basic understanding of Linux, networking, APIs, Git, cloud computing, containers, or CI/CD concepts through coursework, projects, or prior experience.

- Ability to break down problems, learn unfamiliar technology, document work clearly, and communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.

- Interest in AI infrastructure, platform engineering, cloud engineering, DevOps, SRE, developer experience, or distributed systems.

- Exposure to one or more cloud platforms, infrastructure-as-code or CI/CD tools, containers, observability concepts, secure software development, or AI/ML platform technologies.

Eligibility requirements:

• Graduating in 2027 or 2028 (undergraduate or graduate degree)

• Work schedule must align with 9-5PM, Pacific Standard Time

• Must permanently reside and work in the U.S.

• Must be open to relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area upon graduation for consideration for full-time hybrid positions*

• Available from June 14 - August 20, 2027

What You’ll Get:

The target hourly pay for this position is $30.00 - $30.00. The actual hourly pay offered depends on various factors, which may include, as applicable, the individual applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job.
