Communications Desk Operator

1st shift and 3rd shift need. First shift hours 8:00 am- 4:30 pm. Third shift hours 11:30 pm- 8:00 am.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Operate the main switchboard/reception area in Building 4 during business hours and after-duty hours.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

- Manage switchboard. Answer phones and dispatch calls for service.

- Monitor emergency alert panels (SARA System), fire panel alarms, door alarms, etc.

- Serve as central coordinator in event of a security alarm situation.

- Greet visitors

- Administrative duties

- Communicate facility emergencies to designated Maintenance and Engineering personnel.

- Prepare materials from the Electronic Medical records system for residents who are being transported to the Emergency Department as requested.

- All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

- High school graduate preferred; GED acceptable

Experience:

- Experience with switchboard, general office work, and public relations

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to sit for lengthy periods of time

- Capable of providing assistance to persons using walkers and wheelchairs

- Able to quickly respond to emergencies requiring mobility and strength
