- Rheology behaviour of melt plastics

- Plastic material behaviour, thermal & mechanical behaviour of molds

- KPI and/or main deliverables

- Responsible to bring all required technical support to programs from customer RFQ to first of tool in order to deliver molds, able to produce part according with customer expectation and plant operational performance targets (product quality, RFT, cycle time, scrap rate, tool change over, maintenance).

- Is the tool technical owner starting at customer RFQ

- Is supporting EPM and DL to build the parts and is responsible of part design feasibility for moulding

- Ensures the daily technical contact with the tool makers up to First of Tool and brings some support to ITDE during trials phase in case of need.

- Ensures communication with cluster and plant injection & tooling teams in order guarantee activities handovers in between all injection & tooling actors.

- Ensures the application of standards & procedure with central injection & tooling department and shares feedback & lessons learn for central standard improvements.

- TCRD, FAC list, Trial Evaluation, Tool go to plant & transfer

- (CNQ, number of Deep Red Points (Design review / QUAD / launch readiness / QUAD)

- Respect of customer hours budget and project delivery timing for part & mold design definitions.

- Cycle time, scrap rate achievement in line with plants KPIs

Activities

RFQ & advanced phase activities for mold specification & quotation

- Define molds technical specification and propose assumption with product line & purchasing teams for RFQ.

- Define relevant assumption for PRU evaluation (cycle time, scrap rate, clamp force)

Project activities for product & mold design

Leads the tools design in close connection to the tool maker in order to ensure efficient product & mold engineering convergence.

- Update tool specification for mold sourcing and optimize assumption for tools cost optimisation with purchasing department.

- Support project team and design leader for product design for molding and mold design feasibility analysis.

- Leads molds FMEA when relevant.

- Assesses the tool design (sizing, kinematic, cooling, injection; …) to ensure compliancy with OPmobility safety rules and standards, cost optimisation and alignment with Plant operational performance (no touch, cycle time, scrap rate, tool change over, maintenance cost) and OEM product quality targets (cosmetic, geometry)

- Prepare the EAOT / Gripper specification for supplier quotation.

- Identify critical components of tool, propose design optimization and identified specific spare parts.

- Assesses the injection system, hot runner concept and degating assumption with Injection & rheology Engineers

- Assesses the mold shrinkage according to OPmobilty procedure.

- Support SPM for tool modification negociation.

- Propose technical solution for continuous improvement of cost, lead time & quality during the development.

- Raise appropriate alerts related to design for manufacturing or mold risks to project team and manage related actions.

- Ensures weekly monitoring of toolmaker technical activities from top milling to FOT to guarantee not deviation in quality and lead time.

- Prepare the handover of activity with ITDE & plant injection and tooling teams in order to prepare the first mold try outs and the mold transfer in plant.

Project activities for tools fine tuning & process convergence

Support ITDE and plant in case of specific need or hard point to manage.

Plant support

- Assists plant to improve performance & product quality after mold transfer (serial life)

- Assists plant to integrate new injection, mold technologies and new product concepts

Technical activities

- Analysis m old / process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA) results and ensures that the critical process characteristics are implemented in the molding tool & injection process developments.

Standards, continuous improvement & networking

- Applies HSE standards at each step of the project

- Ensures full application of PO standards, deliverable recording, processes best practices and golden rules at every stage of the development

- Attends to project development review (QUAD / DR)

- Leads or participate to specific problem solving workshops related to molding process, tool or product quality issues

- Share lessons learnt to central Injection & tooling team and division network for internal standards improvement (in development & production)

- Identifies need of new technology or supplier to improve industrial performance in current and future projects.

- Challenge toolmakers and other suppliers for tool engineering improvement aligned with PO performance & part quality targets.

- Supports toolmakers assessments in collaboration with supplier quality and central injection & tooling team to support PO tool purchasing strategy.

Specific Local Activities

As central Injection & tooling Engineer position , following activities to be considered

- Adapt and improve standards according to Engineering and operation performance targets.

- Ensure technical survey in injection & tooling scope (tool makers, tool components, processes, materials …)

- Ensure continuous improvement of process, technologies and tools and contribute and manage central actions and projects according to central metier roadmap.

- Assist R&I programs in product and process scopes and transfer of knowledge and know how to developments teams.

- Support engineering centers for C complexity programs from RFQ to transfer in production.

- Ensure networking in between all Injection & tooling community, identify deviation from standards, ensure golden rules and best practices are known and applied.

- Ensure supplier technical follow-up for development & continuous improvement, support quality supplier & purchasing teams and strategy.

- Provides trainings and design training modules for internal needs.

- Manage metier and innovation project in Injection and tooling scope.
